Arctic Adventures

Life always begins with one step outside of your comfort zone.

Shannon Alder

It's the transition time of year when we slowly move our guiding activities from Antarctica up north to the Arctic.

The atmosphere at Brussels Airport today was buzzing with adventurous souls as this morning we sent a group to Greenland on their Level 2 Arctic Circle Trail Expedition with our expert Polar Experience guide, Brecht De Meulenaer. Tonight, our second Polar Experience team began the long journey with Dixie to Spitsbergen for the group's Level 1 introductory polar expedition.

Our Level 1 Spitsbergen group is particularly special this season as it includes our 26 year-old daughter, Evelien. Like most people on her team, she will be completing her initial polar expedition. For her father, it will be Dixie's first time to officially guide one of our children.

Over the next few months, we'll be leading a variety of participants on all levels of expeditions in Spitsbergen/Svalbard, Greenland and the High Arctic/North Pole region.

These journeys come on the heels of a variety of recent activities including a snow kite training led by Dixie last week in Norway.

Exciting times are guaranteed for the near future and we look forward to sharing them with you. In the meantime, we wish our Spitsbergen and Greenland participants safe travels and smooth preparations for their respective expeditions.

Many thanks as always for the outstanding travel and logistics arrangements by Zuiderhuis.
